The Gilpin Tram Engine House and the Tram's Yards were north of Black Hawk up Clear Creek.  From this point the main line climbed up the side of Maryland Mountain to then climb into Chase Gulch.   The Engine House itself was a converted barn.   Also, there was a large warming house for melting the water from the ore before it was taken to the mills in Black Hawk.
