The "Gilpin" arrived in Black Hawk on August 26, 1887 and is seen in this photo in service with a construction train during September

Shay #2 - The Russell Plan for Shay #2 The largest and last of the Gilpin Tramway Shay's, posed in the tramway yards above Black Hawk shortly after her arrival in May of 1902.

Shay #4 at Lima The Gilpin Shay No 4 was shipped from Lima on January 27, 1900 and arrived on the railroad February 20th.

Final days... Engine 3 and 4 being shipped to Denver to be converted to 3' gauge to be sold.   But after rusting for 20 years, they were scrapped in 1938.

After abandonment of the tramway, some cars were sold to the Iron City Mill and used on a short horse drawn section of former tramway trackage, until the mill shut down.
