The Whiting Mine was located on Nevada Hill due west of
Central City about five hundred feed southwest of the Gunnell Mine shaft
house. The Gilpin Tramway had reached this mine by October 10, 1887.
The spur to the mine at this point amounted to 400-feet of trackage (from
Gilpin Railroad by Dan Abbott).
In September 1906 the Whiting Mine shipped 19 carloads of
ore to the Polar Star Mill at a rate of $3.30 per carload charged by the
Gilpin Tram.
